Just over a year after the start of construction work, the IKEA logistics center in Vienna with an investment volume of over 70 million euros has opened its doors.
Pöttinger Entsorgungstechnik accompanied this major project right from the start and developed a tailor-made solution for the waste disposal of the logistics center.
The 50,000 m² IKEA logistics center in 1210 Vienna fulfills several tasks. From mid-November, all customer direct deliveries are to be made from here - the building will function as a warehouse and, as of January, probably as a pick-up station, meaning customers will be able to pick up their ordered goods.
On each of the three floors, different types of waste accumulate. For the four most common types (residual waste, packaging films, plastics and cardboard), the team at Pöttinger Entsorgungstechnik found an efficient and user-friendly solution that met the specific requirements of this building and successfully implemented it.
This means that these four types of waste can now be disposed of directly on the floors where they are produced. Of course, all other accruing waste will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
The trash is guided into the respective press containers via four chutes mounted on the outer walls. The openings of the chutes are equipped with ceiling sectional doors, which make a safe use possible. At the end of the chutes, Pöttinger press containers MP22-1.4 (22m³ press volume) are available for plastics, packaging film and residual waste as well as a screw compactor with a 32m³ docking container for cardboard boxes .
The press containers are equipped with the falconic control module and inform the disposal company about the status and condition of the container at any time.
